In NSW it is an offence to steal something from someone else and at the same time, threaten them or use physical force in order to take the property. Robbery offences include:

  • Armed robbery – section 97(1) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
  • Aggravated armed robbery – sections 97(1) and 97(2) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
  • Armed robbery in company – section 97(1) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
  • Armed robbery with wounding – section 98 Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
  • Demanding property with intent to steal – section 99 Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
  • Robbery with wounding – section 96 Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)

The courts view all of these offences very seriously and the consequences can be significant.
